There is a common fault where the GX280 powers up but gives no video and the fan spins at full speed. In most cases this is a definite system board fault and we have traced the cause to a particular chip. Unfortunately we don't have as high a repair success rate as we would like on these but at over 60% it's worth a go. If we can't repair it then we'll quote to replace the system board.

The system boards used in the GX280 vary but the main part numbers seem to be G7346, H8367, N4846, G8310 and H5354

Hard drive replacement (with data transfer if possible) starts at £95 (for 80GB) including supply and fitting with a fresh Windows installation.

If you would like us to look at the whole unit then we charge £35 for diagnosis and testing on top of the module repair price. We'll quote you before we complete the work and if you don't like the quote we give you then we only charge you a £35 quote charge.
