As part of our component level repair services we are regularly asked to replace broken laptop sockets, usually it’s the DC power socket which has failed.

Although they look similar from the outside, virtually every socket is different across manufacturers and model range. Differences can be in the way it connects to the system board, the number of pins used or the way it mounts into the case. Add this to the problem of getting the laptop apart without breaking those little plastic pieces and it’s no wonder people need help!

Just as well we’re here to assist; we have a proven supply route for each connector and are experienced in component level repair of all technologies. We use our own experienced and qualified engineers (no low tech production lines here) and this is what they’ll do:-

• Confirm the fault is with the socket not the power supply
• Carefully strip down your laptop to gain access to the system board and socket to be replaced
• Fit a replacement socket if it’s broken
• Re-solder the socket into place following our British Standards procedures
• Ensure the socket is sound and fitted correctly to the case as well as the board
• Put your laptop back together so it’s like it was when you gave it to us
• Test the connection
• Give you our standard 90 day warranty on the work we’ve done
